The global Responsible Care initiative stands for the will of the chemical industry to strive for continuous improvement in the areas of environment, safety and health, regardless of legal requirements, and to regularly demonstrate this progress to the public.
The initiative has been in place in Germany since 1991. It is led by the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI). Through a partnership agreement, the chemical trade sector is represented by the German Chemical Trade Association (VCH).
Registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances
REACH is a European Union regulation that was enacted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that chemicals may pose, while also enhancing the competitiveness of the chemical industry in the EU. In addition, it promotes alternative methods for identifying the harmful effects of substances in order to reduce the number of animal tests.
